PSU DuBois men win at Jamestown Comm. College

Penn State DuBois Men's Basketball wins third in a row 66-65

Jan. 14, 2012

Saturday afternoon the Penn State DuBois Men's Basketball team made the snow flurried trip to Jamestown, NY to face the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks. PSUD started the game with little energy, allowing the Jayhawks to build a ten point lead with only a few minutes into the game.  After a much needed time, Coach Bennett rallied the troops. DuBois fought their way back into the game with an intense man to man defensive stand.  Offensively Woody Mitchell led the way shooting lights-out from the three point line. At the end of the first half DuBois took over the lead 31-30.

In the second half the Jayhawks came out rejuvenated taking back the lead and building a ten point spread. DuBois switched to a full court zone press which sped the Jayhawks up forcing them to make quick, bad decisions on offense.  PSUD fought again to cut into the lead, with seconds left DuBois found themselves with the ball and down one point. Jovan Brown inbounded the ball to Chris Dickison underneath the hoop for a layup to put the Lions up one with under seven seconds to play. The Jayhawks tried to push the ball up the floor as quickly as possible, a last second desperation shot fell short and Penn State DuBois came away victorious 66-65.

Player of the game was Woody Mitchell. He shot 7-14 from the field, an astounding 6-13 from the 3-point line, had a total of 21 points, and 6 rebounds. Chris Dickison played another steady game scoring 16 points for DuBois. This win brings PSUD's record to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in the PSUAC Conference.   DuBois men & women get back into PSUAC conference games with a weekend road series at PS Wilkes-Barre Friday and PS Hazleton on Saturday.
