Baseball and Softball Players Earn Conference Awards

PSUAC Announces Baseball & Softball All-Conference Selections

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State University Athletic Conference has announced its 2024 Baseball and Softball All-Conference teams, recognizing nearly 100 student-athletes for their athletic achievements this spring. 

For the second straight year, Penn State Brandywine's Kaylee Mushinski was named the PSUAC Softball Player of the Year, edging out Penn State Schuylkill's Emma Crisswell, who did earn Pitcher of the Year honors after a phenomenal year in the circle. Rounding out the specialty award winners in softball is Penn State DuBois' Natalie Bowser, the Rookie of the Year.

Mushinski batted .425 on the season and led the league in RBI with 65 and home runs with eight. Crisswell led the PSUAC in ERA (1.35), wins (16) and strikeouts with 218, nearly 100 more than her closest competitor. Bowswer knocked in 52 runs and was second in the league with a .495 average. 

Schuylkill's Owen Zimmerman won the East Division Player of the Year after leading the entire PSUAC with a .477 batting average and second in RBI with 47. In the West, Penn State Greater Allegheny's Giovanni Scott was named Player of the Year after a strong season in the batter's box and on the mound. Scott batted .431 and hit seven home runs while also picking up five wins and striking out 56 batters. 

Tristian Baer of Schuylkill was the East Division Pitcher of the Year after leading the PSUAC in wins (8) and ERA (2.95). His West counterparts share the award, as Penn State Mont Alto's Zach Garlin and DuBois' Taylor Boland tied for the honors. Garlin led the PSUAC in strikeouts with 69 and was second in wins with seven. Boland led the staff of the league's top team, pitching 31 innings and allowing just six earned runs with a 1.74 ERA.

Mont Alto's Wyatt Kissel garnered West Division Rookie of the Year after batting .370 and driving in 36. In the East, Penn State York's Brian Hauer and Schuylkill's Conner Licklider share the award as Licklider hit .393 and Hauer batted .344.

The 2024 Coaches of the Year lead powerhouse programs, as DuBois' Tom Calliari takes home the baseball award and Brandywine's Mark Caserta picks up his first Coach of the Year honor. Calliari led his team to the top seed in the PSUAC West Division, finishing 19-1 in conference and 31-9 overall. Caserta's team, which has won eight straight PSUAC titles, finished 17-1 in the conference and 32-8 overall.
