DuBois Athletics Earns USCAA National Honors In 2 Categories

Courtesy of the USCAA National Office-NORFOLK, VA. – For the first time in school history, Penn State DuBois was announced today as the winner of the 2020-21 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Director's Cup Award.

With just the golf invitational and Small College World Series happening this year, the Nittany Lions edged out Mississippi University for Women by 1.5 points with 220 points to 218.5 for the Owls.  St. Mary of the Woods College took third with 152 points.

Penn State DuBois participated in all three events this year with an eighth place finish at the golf invitational, a fourth place showing in the softball tournament and winning its third straight baseball crown.

Along with points for placing in national championship and invitational events, points are awarded for amount of sports offered.

Penn State DuBois also took 3rd place in the USCAA National President's Cup for student-athlete academic success.  This award is set forth to honor member institutions whose student-athletes excel in the classroom.  The cup sets out to highlight the efforts of an athletic program to put the student first in its mission of providing opportunities for young people.  Based on the adoption of the above philosophy, the President's Cup committee rewards points to institutions by their rank against other institutions in program GPA, All-Academic award winners (3.5 GPA+ individuals) and overall athletic department GPA.

Both of these awards acknowledge the hard work of our student-athletes at Penn State DuBois.  Both on and off the playing field, our coaches and student-athletes set a standard of excellence, and this is national recognition for that hard work.
